I hadn't always paid as much attention to my own health and fitness, and a few years' back, in my early 60’s, I had a startling wake-up call: I ruptured a disk in my lower back, and the doctor’s wanted to perform surgery. And shortly afterwards while doing some volunteer work with a church group at a homeless shelter near my home I started feeling sick and dizzy....and the room started going round and round.
I struggled to get outside for some fresh air, but then fell to the ground, and became violently ill throwing up, and unable to get up, or even move, for over two hours. My friends tried to help me, but I was embarrassed and just said "it must have been something I ate, I'll be fine in a little while".
The next day I still felt dizzy and had a couple more attacks, so I didn’t work and just stayed in bed all day. This pattern continued day after day with minor attacks of vertigo, sometimes involving throwing up, and other times just severe dizziness and having to sit down for 20-30 minutes. My hearing also continued to deteriorate, and I was having a major problem trying to communicate with customers, family, and friends.
I went to see my doctor and he told me that he thought it was some kind of virus, so he put me on anti-biotics. The anti-biotics didn't help, and so I sought help at a large medical clinic that specializes in hearing problems, dizzyness, and vertigo. Their program involved a series of tests, including an MRI brain scan, done in several visits over a period of six weeks before they would make a diagnosis.
Then a few days later, I was driving on a major expressway, going 70 miles an hour, when I had another sudden attack of vertigo. Everything started spinning, and I didn't know what to do. There were cars on either side of me, so I tried to slow down and edge to the side of the road but couldn't...then suddenly my car also started spinning out of control. It seemed like forever, but then the car finally stopped spinning and when I looked up I saw that I had come to a stop in a grassy median in the middle of the expressway. I was amazed that I was still alive, and hadn't crashed and gotten killed.
I was really getting scared about my condition at this point, so while waiting for a diagnosis from doctors I started researching the problem on the internet. The final results of all my tests, and my initial research results, were not good and I was diagnosed with a serious “incurable” illness called "menieres" disease.
Menieres is a mysterious disease that often results in total and permanent disability, deafness, and ongoing vertigo attacks, see: www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/balance/meniere.asp . And the prognosis and treatment options given by the doctors were not very encouraging.
After some thought and prayer, my bottom line was that I was simply not willing to accept their diagnosis about my incurable disease and the limited lifestyle I would have to live...., so I decided that there had to be a way to beat this disease and with God’s help I would find it.
In my further research, I discovered a awful lot about the self-healing capabilities of our bodies---- our human bodies are magnificently designed and capable of self-healing from almost any illness of disease given the right conditions.
So my new quest was to investigate the all world's cutting edge approaches and methods for promoting self-healing, and to achieve a new high level of personal health and fitness. It was a huge undertaking that involved countless hours of research, and testing and cross-testing of various approaches for healing and strengthening our bodies, but the results were well worth the effort!
